Junior Research Fellow

Qualifications: The position requires a Master’s degree in Physics, Atmospheric Sciences, Atmospheric Chemistry, or related fields from a recognized University/Institute. Candidates with a graduate degree in a professional courses (BTech /BE) in an appropriate discipline will also be considered. The candidate should have a firm fundamental knowledge of solar variability, radiative transfer, atmospheric science, climate change and be willing to participate in field campaigns (involving some travel). Expertise in atmospheric radiative transfer modeling in IR and UV is required. The candidate should have qualified GATE, UGC CSIRJRF/NET or equivalent exams.
Desirable: Experience with analysis of hyper-spectral satellite data such as that from OMI, GOME-2, AIRS, MODIS, or IASI is also desirable. The ability to access NASA data in HDF-5 format and process it is also necessary for the position. She/he should also have good verbal and written communication skills as well as be experienced in the standard computing
languages such as C/C++, IDL, MATLAB or Fortran. Research responsibilities: JRF will be required to participate in aerosol radiative transfer mathematical model development/testing and application of such models to ground-based aerosol measurements (chemical and optical properties). The JRF will also participate in data quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) and validation.
Field Assistant

Duration: Initially for 6 months, extendable to 1 year upon satisfactory performance
Pay Scale: Rs. 10000 pm (consolidated)
Qualifications: Bachelors Degree (or equivalent) in a science discipline from a recognized University/Institute. Candidates should have an aptitude for atmospheric sciences/air quality management and be willing to participate in field campaigns (involving travel). Prior experience in operating instruments such as particulate matter air samplers, nephelometers, transmissometers, and weather stations are highly desirable.
